Ingredients
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 8 standard hot dogs (or 24 mini cocktail wieners)
- Optional: Melted butter and coarse salt or everything bagel seasoning for the top
Instructions
- Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- Cut: Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into its 8 natural triangles. If using mini wieners, you can cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 smaller strips.
- Roll: Place a hot dog on the wide end of each dough triangle and roll it up toward the point.
- Bake: Arrange them on your baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
Option 2: The Low-Carb / Keto Version
If you want to skip the high-carb flour, this mozzarella-based dough mimics the texture of a soft crescent roll perfectly.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp cream cheese
- ¾ cup almond flour
- 1 large egg
- 8 bun-length hot dogs (check labels for zero/low sugar)
Instructions
- Melt the Base: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and cream cheese. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
- Form the Dough: Stir the almond flour and egg into the melted cheese mixture. Knead it with your hands until a uniform dough forms. (If it gets too sticky, oil your hands slightly).
- Roll & Cut: Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out into a large rectangle or circle. Cut the dough into 8 even triangles or strips.
- Assemble & Bake: Wrap each hot dog in a piece of dough. Place them on a lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
