Savory Garlic & Oregano Herb Butter
This compound butter can be melted over a hot grilled steak, brushed onto roasted chicken, or used to sauté seafood.
Prep time: 10 minutes | Chill time: 30 minutes | Yield: ½ cup
Ingredients
½ cup (1 stick) Unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
2 tbsp Fresh oregano leaves, very finely chopped
2 cloves Garlic, finely minced or pressed
½ tsp Coarse sea salt
¼ tsp Freshly cracked black pepper
Optional: A squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness
Instructions
Prep the Herb: Make sure your fresh oregano leaves are washed and completely dry before chopping. Mince them as finely as possible to release their aromatic oils.
Blend: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon juice (if using). Use a fork to mash and blend everything together until completely uniform.
Shape & Chill: Spoon the butter mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Shape it into a log, roll it up tightly, and twist the ends to seal. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up and let the flavors meld.
To Serve: Slice off rounds of the chilled butter and drop them directly onto hot cooked meats right before serving so it melts into a rich, savory sauce.
⚠️ A Quick Reality Check on the Infographic:
While oregano is absolutely a powerhouse herb packed with natural antioxidants and vitamins, social media graphics like this tend to exaggerate its powers quite a bit. It is wonderful for supporting general wellness and digestion, but it cannot legally or scientifically be classified as a "cure" or definitive prevention for complex medical conditions like cancer, asthma, or Parkinson's. Enjoy it for its fantastic flavor and everyday health perks, but always stick to standard medical care for the heavy lifting!
