Upside Down Strawberry Cake

1. Prepare the Pan

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  • Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.


2. Make the Strawberry Layer

  • Pour melted butter into the bottom of the prepared pan.

  • Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the butter.

  • Arrange sliced strawberries over the sugar in a single layer.


3. Prepare the Cake Batter

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  • In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

  • Stir in vanilla extract.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients alternating with milk, mixing until smooth.


4. Assemble & Bake

  • Carefully spread the cake batter over the strawberry layer.

  • Smooth the top with a spatula.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.


5. Flip the Cake

  • Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.

  • Place a serving plate over the pan and carefully flip the cake upside down so the strawberries are on top.

Serve warm or at room temperature. It’s delicious on its own or with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
